“No longer can the flâneur roam the arcades invisibly reflecting the city to its civilians, and no longer can all democratic organizations navigate a commodified media landscape. As we see people try to reclaim relationships with public space along with the effort to return capital investment to the old centers, we see artists and community organizers converging with a unique historical perspective—that of a Civilian.”

In the Spring of 2013, I joined hands with fellow Front/Space directors Sarah Murphy and Kent Szlauderbach to begin a new project that would probe, investigate, and attempt to touch on the experiences of the Artist Citizen and the role of art and artists in the capital-c City.
